The Nokosu team ("we") sets out below its privacy policy ("this Policy") regarding the handling of personal information of users in connection with the app "Nokosu" (the "Service").
1. About your notes
Notes, photos, and other data you create are, as a rule, stored only on your device and are not transmitted to our servers.
Only if you choose to turn on iCloud sync (a Nokosu Pro feature) is your data synchronized via Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) across your own devices signed in with the same Apple ID. Synced data is stored in your own private region managed by Apple, and we cannot access its content. iCloud sync is off by default and can be turned on or off at any time in the app settings.
2. Information we collect
To maintain and improve the Service, we may collect the following information, which does not directly identify you as an individual, through an external analytics service:
- App version, OS version, device type
- Usage statistics such as app launches, screen transitions, and feature usage counts
- An automatically generated anonymous identifier per device, and your IP address (used to estimate your approximate region)
- Crash reports (to detect and fix defects)
This data does not include any user-generated content such as note text or photos. While this information does not by itself directly identify you, it may be treated as personal-related information under the laws of certain countries or regions.
3. Purpose of use
We use the information collected above only for the following purposes:
- To provide, operate, and improve the Service
- To detect and fix defects
- For statistical analysis when planning new features
4. Use of external services
We use the following external services to operate the Service and entrust them with data processing to the extent necessary. None of these providers receive any user-generated content such as note text or photos:
- An external analytics service: used to analyze the usage and crash information described above. This service's servers are located in the European Union (EU), and the information collected is processed and stored within the EU.
- An external subscription-management service: used to manage the purchase state of the "Nokosu Pro" subscription, processing billing-related information such as whether a purchase exists and the subscription status.
- Apple iCloud (CloudKit): used to sync your note data when you turn on iCloud sync.
Some of the service providers above are located outside Japan (in the EU), and the information described above may be processed and stored overseas. We take necessary measures, including through contracts with these providers, to ensure such information is handled appropriately.
We also use the analytics service described above on the Service's official website (nokosu.app) to measure access activity such as page views and button interactions. On the website we do not use cookies; we use only an automatically generated anonymous identifier per browser and your IP address (to estimate your approximate region), and we do not collect information that directly identifies you or any of your note content.
5. Disclosure to third parties
Except as required by law, we do not provide information to any third party other than the service providers described above without your consent.
6. Tracking
The Service does not collect the advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not collect information to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
7. Permissions
The Service uses the following permissions only when you choose to:
- Camera: when you take a photo to attach to a note
- Photo library (read): when you attach an existing photo to a note
- Photo library (save): when you also save a captured photo to your device's Photos app (an optional feature, off by default)
All permissions are optional and can be changed in iOS settings at any time.
8. Deleting your data
Notes you delete in the app are first moved to the Trash and are automatically deleted permanently after a set period (7 days). You can also delete them permanently from the Trash right away.
Uninstalling the app deletes all note data on your device. If you had iCloud sync enabled, you can also delete that data individually from iCloud settings.
9. Changes to this Policy
We may change the contents of this Policy as required by law or otherwise. Changes take effect from the time the revised Policy is posted on this page.
